Below are the expectations for playtesters

  1. You are welcome to come anytime before playtesting starts (ex: Saturday around noon) to see where each team is on their game.
  2. Show up to Euler 217 a little before 5pm on Saturday.
  3. I will point out where each of the teams are.
  4. Walk around asking each team if they would like to have their game playtested.
  5. Play the games. (see notes below)
  6. Give feedback.
  7. Add your name to the team's playtesting sheet along with a star (★) next to it.
  8. Expect to be around until 6pm.
  9. Consider coming back at 10pm for the presentations and judging! (euler 109)

While playing, be sure to "think out loud". Be vocal about what you are thinking or trying to do. If something is confusing (ex: "I thought that pressing this button would have jumped, but it did not") or if you have a particular goal (ex: "oh, look at that shiny thing. I wonder how I can get it"), be sure to mention it. This helps the team know what you, the player, were expecting it to do, but how their game does not do that or does not inform the player that you cannot do that. It also helps them know what their game does not inform the player about (ex: if you go here and press this button then you win!). Then afterwards, maybe give them a quick summary of suggestions along with a few things you liked about their game. If you can, try to think of something that was fun or unique about their game.

Please keep in mind that they have only been working on their game for a very short amount of time, so it will still be rough and buggy.
